Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of the England squad for Wednesday's friendly with Italy, while Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has been added to the party.
Oxlade-Chamberlain reported for duty with Roy Hodgson's men on Monday morning but was immediately released back to the Gunners after suffering an ankle injury in Sunday's friendly against Cologne.
The youngster is the third player to pull out from Hodgson's initial selection, following Sunday's announcement that Joe Hart (back) and Daniel Sturridge (toe) would not be fit to feature.
Despite losing the services of a winger, goalkeeper and forward, centre-back Lescott is the only addition to the squad for the clash in Switzerland on Wednesday, although the decision to call him up had already been taken before Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled out.
Lescott was an ever-present for England during Euro 2012 and was left out of the original squad for the midweek encounter, along with numerous others who featured in Poland and Ukraine.
Wednesday's game is a re-run of the quarter-final showdown this summer, which Italy won on penalties after 120 scoreless minutes.
